The license holder is not always the owner: several suppliers belong to publicly traded groups, whether Canadian or foreign. This section groups sales by parent company and by place of control, based on an ownership table documented from public sources (corporate registries, Health Canada, press releases, annual reports).
Allocation is prorated by known shareholders: the value sold by a supplier is attributed to its shareholders' countries according to their stake (e.g., 30% to the United Kingdom for a Canadian producer that is 30%-owned by British American Tobacco, with the remainder to Canada; 100% to the United States for a subsidiary of an American group). The float and unknown stakes go to the country of registration. Below, the parent company's place of registration, for comparison.

Summer 2026 was marked by a wave of consolidation and restructuring among several suppliers present on the shelves of Quebec's cannabis stores, a useful context for interpreting the breakdown by brand and by parent company observed this quarter.
What people are talking about — On forums and sub-forums devoted to Canada's legal cannabis industry, the attempted takeover of Aurora by a US company has fueled discussion about the future of Canadian ownership in the industry and what a deal could change for products already on shelves. The Entourage Health situation has also raised recurring questions about the future availability of certain product lines already distributed in Quebec should production stop. More broadly, the shrinking number of licensed producers continues to fuel discussion about market concentration and the gradual disappearance of some smaller brands.
Shares are calculated on the retail-price value of observed sales (inventory drawdowns tracked several times a day in 114 stores and on the provincial retailer's website, from 2026-07-01 to 2026-09-30), accessories excluded. The supplier is the one listed by Quebec's provincial retailer; the parent company, country, and province of control come from public sources and may change (acquisitions, restructurings): please report any errors to us.
